The People in Need organization was established in 1992, by a group of war reporters and foreign correspondents who were no longer satisfied with bringing back information to the Czech Republic; instead, they began sending out aid. It gradually became established as a professional humanitarian organization focused on providing aid to crisis areas and supporting adherence to human rights around the world. Over the past 20 years, it has grown into one of the biggest non-profit organizations in Central Europe and has also become active in the field of education as well as helping those living in social exclusion. Today, People in Need focuses on four key areas: humanitarian aid and development cooperation, support for human rights, social integration programs, and education and information programs.

In addition to this website’s focus on the late 1940’s through 1950’s, the organization holds regular historical conferences, youth camps, and compiles the Czechoslovak Political Prisoners anthology to enable these stories to cross the globe.

The non-profit organization Památník Šoa Praha, o.p.s. (Shoah Memorial Prague) was founded in 2012 with the purpose of launching the Shoah Memorial at the Bubny Railway Station. A memorial that speaks: not a well preserved collection of old times but a platform for dialogue. Young, inspirational dialogue accessible to all generations. Dialogue in a number of languages addressing different national and social groups. Artistic argumentation opening new points of view. Lecturers and teachers should set out for virtual journeys retracing various fates and stories. Objects on display and related testimonies will yield their secrets, both to students and individual visitors, or researchers...Inconspicuous details hide great destinies, these form a great portrait of a collective story – a story of Shoah.
The Avalon Theatre has been a cornerstone of northwest Washington DC since the theater opened in February 1923. In April 2003, the Avalon became a nonprofit theater operated by The Avalon Theatre Project. As an independent, nonprofit theater, the Avalon offers exciting and diverse programming that includes outstanding first-run commercial films, independent and foreign films, documentaries, film festivals, and special programs for families and seniors. The Avalon Café opened in April 2009 in one of the theater’s retail spaces and will enhance the movie-going experience with outstanding food and beverages.
