About David Thurmaier
David Thurmaier is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. His research focuses on the music of Charles Ives, the Beatles, and music theory pedagogy. In Spring 2018, he was a Fulbright Scholar (Research and Teaching) at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic where he researched two projects: how young Czech students learn music theory, and the impact and reception of the Beatles’ music before and after the Prague Spring in 1968. His article resulting from those studies called “‘Life Goes On’ after Occupation: Czechoslovak White Album Cover Versions after the Prague Spring, 1968–71” appears in the journal Interdisciplinary Literary Studies.
